Poseidon, to come into the world was vomited up by Cronus drinking poison from Zeus. Poseidon the god of the seas is one of the top Olympian gods. Neptune the god of water and sea (Roman) , is different from the Greek mythology Poseidon. They used the names In Greece and used to be Rome.
Zeus the god of the sky led a war against Cronus the Titan of time and the other titans the war took a long time and they set the Cyclops loose and the Cyclops gave them weapons, Poseidon got the trident , Zeus got the thunderbolt, and Hades got the helmet of darkness.
Poseidon the god of the seas got to rule the seas and Oceanus the old god of the seas, then resigned so Poseidon had complete control and had built a palace underwater called Atlantis.
Poseidon when he would be fine he’d have calm seas but, when he was mad or ignored he would thrust his trident into the ground and create massive destruction and make shipwrecks.
For each god the Romans would have a different name for them instead of the same name as the Greeks give them as is Poseidon has the name Neptune.
Since Poseidon is god of the seas, horses, and eart hquakes he is the most responsible for ship wrecks and drowning.

Poseidon was father of the hero Theseus, then Theseus had became king of Athens. They threw his signet ring into the sea and dared Theseus to retrieve it. He dove into the waves and not only found the ring but was given a crown by Poseidon's wife, Amphitrite.
